Joel Vinsen
Joel is guitarist, improviser, composer, and tutor, based in Auckland, New Zealand.
He has been described as playing the guitar with ‘equal parts respect and contempt’, his pedal board has been described as excessive, and his musical output as eclectic. He specialises in non-idiomatic improvisation; specifically Prepared Guitar; manipulating/playing the guitar with objects. He performs solo, in ensembles including 10 Acre Bloc and Vitamin S, and has collaborated across disciplines; including with dancers & poets & improv theatre performers.
